Our LADIES MILE TOUR is named for the area between 9th and 23rd streets, the location of some of New York’s most famous department stores in the 18th and early 19th centuries. This tour is a journey through the history of mercantile New York.
We will explore this vibrant neighborhood as it exists now through the echoes of the buildings and traditions that have graced it throughout its history. We'll trace the Gilded age of the nineteenth century and the Roaring Twenties of stock market extravagancies and Prohibition excesses, through to the growth of retail and the skyscraper city.
Finally, we'll grab a taste of pure goodness as we walk through the largest outdoor farmer’s market in NYC and learn what can really grow in New York City!
This tour is $45 and runs about 2.5 hours.
